Procedure
Step 1 – The patient will be given general anesthesia.
Step 2 – An incision will be made on the joint area that is to be treated.

Step 4 – A bone will be grafted between the ends of the joint. This bone can either be taken from your pelvic area or from a bone bank.
Step 5 – The grafted bone is then set intact with metal screw and rods.
Step 6 – The incision is then closed with surgical sutures and stitches.
Instructions after surgery
- You will be asked to wear a cast or brace to provide support to the joint.
- You may have to use crutches or a walker to move around in order to keep the pressure off the joint.
- Must keep the surgical area neat and hygienic.
- Taking physical therapy would be advised as the joints can stiffen up post op, resulting in loss of motion.
